Movie Review:
The debutant director Sakthivel and producers AGS Entertainment’s have dished out a clean, sweet, simple love story. It has enough charm to yield a fun matinee for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
But that’s it, as the film has nothing new in it story wise or in treatment. The first half is fun and frolic plus three songs, two of them dream songs in foreign locales. Post interval it takes a different route and becomes an action masala set in Kollywood’s wild west- South Tamil Nadu mainly Nagercovil.
Nakulan, one of the five boys in director Shankar's 'Boys', has grown in stature to establish himself as one of the important heroes in Tamil film industry.
After a good showing in 'Kadhalil Vizhunthen' and 'Masilamani', the young actor is now ready with 'Kandha Kottai', a film by debutantdirector Sakthivel.
Produced by Kalpathi S Agoram for AGS Entertainment, the movie has Poorna of 'Muniyandi Vilangiyal Moonramandu' fame as the heroine. Dheena has scored music.
Claiming that Nakulan would fulfill the expectations of the audience in 'Kandha Kottai', the director of the movie says: "He is a dedicated actor who takes pains for perfection. He delivers what the director wants."
The story is about a guy Siva (Nakul) who lives in Kandha Kottai, a residential colony in Chennai and has some friends like Santhanam who is always running after girls. However Siva loves to play spoil sport and separate lovers who are planning to get hitched. At the other extreme is our heroine Pooja (Poorna) a college student residing in Nagercovil who loves to play cupid and unite lovers.
Pooja comes to Chennai on a mission to unite her cousin with his lover who later we find is Siva's sister! There is firework’s initially when their paths cross but soon it is the beginning of a new chapter in their life as they fall madly in love!
In the second half, the story takes a U- turn as Siva goes to Nagercovil and discovers that the local goon Annachi (Sampath) is baying for the blood of Pooja. Annachi’s son her childhood friend had huge crush on her but when he came to know that she was in love with Siva in frustration, he commits suicide!
It cannot get more bizarre as Annachi after killing her father swears that he will see to it that she never smiles in her life again! The rest ofthe film is all about how Siva brings back the smile on Pooja’s face after annihilating Annachi and his gang single handedly!
